Lost

Missing: 1 normal brain that can remember everyday things, household items and normal daily activities. This brain is very needed. If found, please return to Nikki (or better yet, her husband Nate, since she will likely lose it once given back to her)

Okay, so when I was pregnant, I was surprised to find out that "Prego Brain" was in fact REAL. Back then, I would laugh when I absentmindedly left my keys in the door, bought things at the grocery store and then forgot to bring them home, or just completely forgot what day it was. I received solace knowing that my mind would return once I had Landon. UMmmmmm.... No one told me about Prego Brain's evil sister, "Mommy Brain."

Mommy Brain is by far the crueler of the two. And I'm just beginning to realize that my wonderful, sharp, never-forget-a-thing brain ain't comin back any time soon (if ever)! Now the things I forget aren't quite as laughable. Take yesterday for instance, I left the house with baby, dog, house keys, and mail key in tow... I came back with only three of those things. No, no, I didn't lose Landon (yet, at least), but somehow I completely lost our mail key during our small walk around the block. Some of you might be thinking, big whoop. But we only have one and now have to go through the whole process of getting a new lock on our mailbox. If anything, I may just be sad that this experience finally signals to me that I really have lost it. My mind, gone forever.

RIP - Nikki's Brain
February 3rd, 1983 - somewhere between Dec 09 & March 11

PS - What exactly happens when I get pregnant with number 2? Is it exponential? If so, maybe we need to hold off a long while...

Unless you're willing to wait 7 years (that's how long I have heard it takes to get your brain back) then I would just learn to get used to the "new" you. Lucky for me I had baby number 2 just months before I hit the 7 year mark, so I can't tell you if that's actually true. All I know is if the first 2 won't do it; baby number 3 is sure to make it a permanent condition :)
